Understanding Packaging Bloat in Our MealsUpdated 7 months ago
What Causes Packaging Bloat?
You might notice some bloat in the packaging of our meals, particularly those that include kale. Kale, being a ‘live’ vegetable, continues to release natural gases after being harvested. When the package is sealed, these gases have nowhere to escape, which can lead to the bloating you notice.
Is It Safe to Consume?
If you have one of our meals that contains a salad component and it is still within the expiration date, it is perfectly safe to eat, even if the packaging appears bloated. The bloat is a natural occurrence related to the fresh ingredients, particularly kale.
Important Notes:
- In-Date Meals with Salad Components: Safe to consume despite packaging bloat.
- Out-of-Date Meals or Bloating Without Salad: If your meal is past its expiration date, or if you notice significant bloating in meals that do not include a salad, please do not consume it.
